Music After Texas State

Jason Russell is a Texas State alumnus who embarked on a career in music after spending his college days in the Texas State music program. Russell began at what was then known as Southwest Texas State in 1993 and spent four years looking to exhaust every resource given to him by the music program. Russell was a member of big band, jazz band, wind ensemble, orchestra, basketball band and marching band.

Russell is now a high school band director and drummer for the band Long Tall Eddy. He comes from a background in percussion and drumming, but in high school and college expanded to many different types of music. Russell has an appreciation for all things music and said the Texas State music program had lasting benefits to help him get to where he is today.
